Description
Perticaia Montefalco Rosso DOC is an elegant and versatile Umbrian red, based on Sangiovese with portions of Sagrantino and Merlot, featuring a fruity–spicy profile, good freshness and rounded tannins, ideal throughout the meal.
Grapes and area
It comes from the Montefalco area (Umbria) and is made from an indicative blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Sagrantino and 10% Merlot in recent declared vintages, combining elegance, structure and softness.
Vinification and aging
Fermentation at controlled temperature with maceration on the skins for about 10–15 days, then 12 months of aging between stainless steel and partial wood, with a further rest in bottle of about 6 months to harmonize the profile.
Color and aroma
It shows a ruby red color; on the nose it offers ripe berries with delicate spicy accents and, depending on tasting notes, hints of licorice and tobacco in the more structured versions.
Taste
On the palate it is fresh, well-structured, with rounded tannins and pleasant persistence, maintaining balance between acidity, fruit and body for an easy, flowing drink.
Pairings
Excellent with tasty soups, pasta with ragù, aged cheeses and grilled meats, making it a reliable companion for Umbrian cuisine and meat dishes.
Serving and potential
Serve at 16–18 °C; it has an aging potential of about 5–8 years, keeping well in a properly managed cellar.
