Description
Riccardo I is an IGT red wine with a versatile, immediate style, featuring a fruity‑spicy profile and fine tannins that favor drinkability at the table.
Area and grape blend
Produced in Umbria, in the Montefalco area, it bears the signature of La Veneranda winery, expressing a Sangiovese‑centered blend with Merlot and Sagrantino contributing structure and roundness.
Vinification and maturation
Fermentation takes place in temperature‑controlled stainless‑steel tanks with about 10 days of maceration to preserve varietal character; a period in oak follows to round out the profile, then bottle aging.
Color and aroma
In the glass it shows deep ruby; on the nose, black cherry and cherry, wild strawberries and berries stand out, with accents of sweet spices such as star anise and vanilla, typical of this Sangiovese interpretation.
Taste
On the palate it is balanced, smooth and highly drinkable, with crunchy fruit, good sapidity and fine, pleasant tannins supporting an agile sip without sacrificing Sangiovese’s fleshiness.
Style and pairings
Conceived as an everyday food‑friendly red: pairs well with red meats and game, including spiced preparations, thanks to the balance between freshness, tannin and a gentle oak‑derived softness.
Serving
Serve at 16–18 °C to highlight the fruity profile and gentle spice; it doesn’t need long aeration, but benefits from a few minutes in the glass.
Indicative data
Indicative alcohol around 14% ABV, 0.75 L format; recent vintages show consistent style based on Sangiovese with an Umbrian blend and brief oak.
